Production Company
I created the logo for my own production company, called 'Evolution Films'.
The role of a production company is to actually create the film, but employing people in different job roles to carry out the production of the film.
Some of these employees are presented in my opening sequence. The titles start off with the high profile actors and actresses, and works its way down in importance of all of the other job titles.
Below is the logo for my production company 'Evolution films'.
Distribution Company
The role of the distribution company is to distribute the film to cinemas, shops, TV and to DVDs and other media.
Big distributors will use their own money to distribute their films as they will make a huge return. But smaller distribution companies will have to use loans or funds from places such as the BFI (British Film Institute).
My film is similar to films such as 'Four Lions', as they are produced in England was created by a small production company, and distributed by a small distribution company.
My film would also be showed in small indie cinemas due to the funding of my film it will not attract mass audiences, that blockbuster films would. It would also be played at indie film festivals, as this will attract the sort of audience who will watch my film. Also by playing it at these festivals it will help my film to gain more publicity and thus more views.
Afterwards, it would be available on DVD, but only in a small quantity. As again due to the low budget of the distribution company, they cannot afford to mass produce it, unlike blockbuster films.
The distribution company that I decided to chose to use for my opening sequence was Studio Canal. Below is the logo of the distribution company Studio Canal.
There were may reasons why I chose to use this distribution company. One reason was that it had a history of distributing independent British films, which is what our opening sequence, so by choosing Studio Canal it fits in with the background of our sequence.
Another reason why I also chose Studio Canal was that it also had a history of distributing films of a similar genre to the one that I had chosen for my opening sequence. The genre that I was aiming towards was a political thriller that would make the audience have to think. Studio Canal has distributed films of this genre, most notably the re-make of Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy.
This film has a similar genre and atmosphere to the opening sequence that I have created.
Below are two images, one from my opening sequence, and one from Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy.
As you can see the costumes of the two are similar, and both films are of the same genre, a political thriller. This is why I see Studio Canal as an ideal distribution company for my film.
Overall, I have chosen to use Studio Canal as my distribution company as:
My film would fall under the age 15 category. This is because it contains some scenes of violence and mild gore, however is not to a serious enough amount that it should be classed as an 18. It wouldn't be a 12 or a 12A as it contains too much violence for children of that age, and would not be suitable for them to view it.

However, the sound that accompanies this logo didn't fit in with the mood and atmosphere of my opening sequence. So, I decided to overlap my own sound over it, so that it did fit in with my opening sequence.
This is the new distribution logo, with my own sound.

There are some other things I have to keep in mind about my film:
Cultural Test
The cultural test is a set of questions that determines whether your film is 'British' or not. If your film is seen as 'British' the costs of distribution will decrease.
Below are some of the questions on the cultural test.
The pass mark for this test is 16. My film received full marks (31), which means not only my film is 'British', but my costs will be reduced because of this.
Age Rating
There are many different categories when it comes to age ratings for film.
The different rating are shown below, with a description of what a film of this age rating will contain.
My film would fall under the age 15 category. This is because it contains some scenes of violence and mild gore, however is not to a serious enough amount that it should be classed as an 18.
